I work in oil, charcoal and beeswax on found wood or slabs from logged trees or metal (ceiling tiles from old factories and buildings in Seattle), sometimes with different metal or organic material attached.  I love working in the more natural elements of nature.  I love exploring the medium with my senses...taking in the smell and feel and sight of the oil, charcoal and beeswax.  In using the wax, I heat it to become liquid and then use it like a paint, building up different layers by brushing it on.  Depending on how hot the wax is, it cools off in different colors.  I can then sculpt into those layers to create texture and either draw with charcoal or paint with oil on top of it.  Not all of my paintings use wax, though.
